Shar Aweho Shar was born and raised in Oklahoma on family land. She spent her childhood loving, exploring, and learning from the land; about the many gifts it held. Her art is born out of this intimate and spiritual relationship with Mother Earth. Her professional career began two decades ago. Her artistic expressions include stone and wood sculpture, music, painting, and teaching. Embracing her family heritage, she honors her Native American ancestry by using her Tsa La Gi name given to her. "Aweho" (uh-way-ho) means "abides in Creator, continually, and always." This name does reflect Shar's personal, spiritual, and artistic integrity. Her primary residence and studio is in Montana. For Shar this is the center of the universe, the place where the Earth begins and ends. She loves to spend time in the high places, working and playing in the mountains of her home. Shar lives with her family, on Crow Reservation. Her love of teaching and travel take her throughout the country working with young and old. Her work portrays and Immense love of the land and people everywhere.
